Virtual College Visits
We are excited to continue to collaborate with Breakthrough Houston to bring fall college visits to students across Houston -- virtually! During these times, we know how important it is to remain connected while staying safe and healthy. We look forward to working with each of you this year. Please see the directions below to let us know of your interest.
Schedule: Since we work with students primarily after school, our availability to offer sessions will be limited to those hours during the week. We are offering sessions twice a week throughout the fall (August - October)at either 5 or 6 PM. We may add more time slots in the future. Please only sign up for one session at this time.
Topics: In addition to a traditional information session, our students are particularly interested in learning about changes in how their apps will be reviewed in light of COVID-19. Other popular topics include financial aid, student supports on campus, the student perspective (panel). If you'd like to offer a session with another school, we welcome that as well! Whatever topic you choose, engagement will be key. We recommend a shorter presentation with plenty of time for Q&A. We've also seen success with tools like Nearpod, which offers great virtual engagements tools.
Format: Please use the platform you currently use to offer virtual visits. Ideally, there is a registration link you can create to collect student name and contact information and that students can use to join the meeting the day of. We do not plan to create links on your behalf unless you have a special request. When we surveyed colleges, Zoom was the most popular platform.
