This month, we hired two new staff members at EMERGE. Abigayl Flores and Sandra Nuñez will be working directly with students at our partner schools in Spring Branch ISD. They will be responsible for implementing curriculum that prepares students for top-tier college admission.
Abigayl is a first generation graduate of the University of St. Thomas. She received a Bachelor's in Education in 2011 and a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2014. She began her teaching career at Landrum Middle School in Spring Branch ISD where she worked for four years as a Spanish Teacher and Systems of Care Interventionist. She is excited to continue working with students in Spring Branch ISD to help them transition into college and achieve their dreams.
Sandra grew up in El Paso, TX and is a proud first generation graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She taught 8th and 9th grade social studies in the Rio Grande Valley for three years before coming to Houston. Since moving to Houston in 2010, she has worked on Teach For America’s recruitment team and most recently at YES Prep Public Schools. She is excited to be on the EMERGE team because she loves working with high school students and is passionate about college access and persistence.
